Teen and Adult Special Buddies Lead Job Description:
The Teen & Adult Special Needs Minister is responsible for leading, developing, and overseeing ministry programming for teens and adults with special needs. This role exists to create a welcoming, safe, and spiritually nurturing environment where individuals of all abilities can grow in their relationship with Christ and experience meaningful community within the church.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Key Responsibilities
•Plan, lead, and oversee weekly and/or monthly ministry gatherings for teens and adults with special needs
•Create engaging, age-appropriate, and ability-appropriate spiritual programming, including worship, Bible teaching, and activities
•Recruit, train, and support volunteers to serve consistently and compassionately within the ministry
•Work closely with families and caregivers to understand individual needs, accommodation, and communication preferences
•Ensure a safe and inclusive environment by following church policies, safety protocols, and best practices
•Collaborate with church staff and campus leadership to align the ministry with the overall mission and vision of the church
•Maintain attendance records, volunteer schedules, and basic communication with families and volunteers
•Participate in special events, training, or services as needed
Qualifications
•A growing and personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a passion for serving individuals with special needs
•Experience working with teens and/or adults with special needs (church, education, healthcare, or related field preferred)
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills
•Ability to lead with patience, compassion, flexibility, and grace
•Organizational skills and the ability to manage volunteers effectively
•Alignment with the church’s mission, values, and statement of faith
Time Commitment
•Part-time position (hours may include weekends and occasional evenings)
•Schedule will vary based on service times, events, and ministry needs
Reporting Structure
•Reports to the Director of Operations and Global Ministry Lead
